Merry Christmas to all

Shoulder the Cross has been going downtown on Friday mornings to help those who are homeless. This past Friday fell on Christmas Eve. It is so easy to forget the meaning of Christmas sometimes. The roadways stay busy with last minute, impatient shoppers. Parking spaces are full, people leaving take extra long to leave their spots. There is no time for eye contact, staying on task is important to many. If you had the time, you could glance and notice there are others out there, lonely and comfortless. A congenial smile or kind greeting could turn a bleak day into an encouraging one. Shoulder the Cross showed up this cool Christmas Eve morning, hoping to spread joy and peace. There were a lot of surprised faces when we showed up, happy and jolly. Tim had asked for a flashlight, we were able get 3 small hand help flash lights for him. Gabriel asked for a bus pass, we were happy to give him a 7 day pass for Capitol Metro. Connie gave out chips and eggs. She also helped with the Cocoa and coffee. It was very rewarding to be able to give these gifts to people who truly need them. Sam glanced slowly and tearfully mentioned that now his Christmas was complete. His belly was full and he has some new warm clothes to wear during the winter chills to come. Sometimes it is the slightest of actions that have the most bountiful results.
